Moscow (March 12, 2007) - Moscow-based OLSOFT has released a free information portal especially for mobile phones: Global Mobile Journal (GMJ). With GMJ, users can have easy access to news and other information from the Web through their mobile telephone. "It uses Internet access and gets information from the company server where the team of editors prepares news and articles especially for GMJ," said Eugene Olevsky, CEO of OLSOFT. "Essentially, it provides a free information portal on mobile phones without the use of a mini-browser. However, it's much faster, more convenient and more compact than a mini-browser."
GMJ offers mobile phone users a number of other important advantages. It gives them a more comfortable way to navigate, letting them use all directions instead of the up-and-down motion that is typical with mini browsers. Also, GMJ compresses the traffic flow to mobile phones, resulting in traffic that is much lower than with mini-browsers. And because the new information portal was developed as a Java software application, GMJ is suitable for all types of cell phones and other mobile devices.
GMJ supplies a variety of up-to-date information that is especially prepared to be viewed on small cell phone screens. This offers a valuable benefit to consumers, according to Olevsky. GMJ provides users with global news, dictionaries in multiple languages, blogs, polls, weather and other information that can enhance their lives. "We strongly believe that people would have happier lives if they had easy access to the latest jokes, toasts, horoscopes, advice, scam alerts and other important information," he explained.
OLSOFT is an experienced software development company that was founded in 1992. In addition to creating the GMJ software for mobile phones, the company also develops software for the investment market and companies across various industries. The release of GMJ enables the company to fill a void in the marketplace; it serves as a content provider to give users constant and convenient access to the latest information via the Web and their mobile device.
Originally, GMJ was created to provide free magazine/newspaper content for mobile telephones. Now the software supplies access to a broad range of information, services and features. In the future, GMJ will include advertising supplements-although the publication, itself, will continue to be available free of charge.
